PADDLE CANADA LEVEL 1
LEVEL 1: A Guide to Kayaking
These two-day introductory kayaking lessons are perfect for individuals who are new to kayaking and wish to learn the necessary skills to plan and embark on their own day trips in Level 1 conditions. By the end of this course, you will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of sea kayaking, have control over your kayak in level 1 conditions, and learn essential paddling techniques such as forward and backward strokes, bracing, edging, and turning. Additionally, you will learn how to safely recover in the event of a capsize, including wet exit and various re-entry techniques, both by yourself and assisted.
Rentals are Available for Vessels, and all needed Gear. You can either rent items as needed, or you can rent everything as a package.
For this class, you will require all of the following items:
- A sea kayak with two bulkheads.
- Pump
- Whistle
- 15-Meter Floating Rope
- PFD
- Paddle
- Sunscreen
- Lunch (we have fresh baked muffins/cookies, coffee, tea and snacks available onsite)
- Water
- *Bring spare clothes and a towel.
During this class, you will:
- Cover proper paddling techniques.
- Learn how to balance yourself.
- Exit a tipped Kayak.
- Get wet.
- Have fun!
- Make friends similar to your skill level.
Upon completion, you will receive:
- A Paddle Canada Level 1 Sea Kayak Skills Certificate.
The course will run rain or shine. We will postpone in the case of prolonged thunderstorms.
